The sub-title should give the book away: this is ‘A starter’s guide to butterflies of South Africa,’ so it’s enough to give you a broad perspective – which is fine for someone like me who wants only that. It should therefore also be enough for most travellers – I’m pretty sure that only real lepidopterists would want names, ranks and serial numbers – and anyone with even a casual interest in nature’s beauty will enjoy browsing through the magnificent photos and interesting life histories in this well-made soft-cover from Struik.
